The Superfood Series: Green Goodness

The Superfood Series: bought to you by GO Superfood. Easy ways to get extra nutrients into your fussy little eaters.

Smoothies are an essential part of my day. Usually a mid-afternoon snack and another way to pack loads of nutrients into my day.

Here’s recipes for two of my fave green smoothies that I love and my little girl enjoys too.

The Powerhouse

This one is seriously green! But it doesn’t taste it. This is my favourite smoothie ever!! And it’s a great meal smoothie so I have this often for lunch on a busy day.

  • Big handful of baby spinach
  • 1/3 telegraph cucumber
  • 2-3 florets Broccoli
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 cup your favourite milk (I go for unsweetened almond milk)
  • 1 teaspoon Go Superfood Kale Powder
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional but I love the taste)
  • 1 teaspoon peanut butter
  • 1/2 a frozen banana
  • 1 small handful frozen mango

Blend the greens with the liquid until no leafy parts remain. Then add all other ingredients and blend again. If you want, top with crunchy grains (I love Te Atatu Toasted Gluten Free!) and cacao nibs or toasted coconut.

The First Timer

If you’re a bit new to the world of green smoothies, then this one’s for you.

  • 1 big handful leafy greens (spinach, kale, silverbeet)
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 teaspoon Go Superfood Spirulina
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)
  • You can add kiwifruit to this one too if you want
