The Smile Series: The importance of time

The Smile Series: Bought to you by Red Seal. Looking at ways to make our children smile for all the right reasons.

As a parent, there is nothing that makes me happier than knowing my child is happy.

Anything that puts a smile on her face, puts a smile on my face too. If your child spends most of the day smiling, then you know you’re doing something right!

So, what does make our children truly happy? They sometimes may lead you to believe that it’s the new toys you buy them or the new iPhone game you let them play but really the one thing that makes them the happiest is the time and attention that you give them.

If you want children to turn out well, spend twice as much time with them and half as much money.

Ask yourself honestly, are you spending enough quality time with your children? Are you playing with them? Are you focussed 100% on them and giving them your full attention?

If you feel guilty or rushed or like you don’t have the balance right,  then stop and reflect on the behaviours that are making you feel that way. Maybe you need to put down the phone for the afternoon, those emails can wait until your baby is in bed. Or maybe it’s saying no to a catchup with friends and instead spending some one on one time taking your kids on a little adventure.

How often do you just stop whatever it is your doing, crack the music up loud and have an impromptu dance party in the lounge? Do it!!!! Fill the house with balloons, build huts under the table, take a walk outside. Anything that gets you some quality time with your child will do wonders to lift both of your spirits.

Do just one thing differently tomorrow and see how you feel. Involve them in your day…sure things might take a little longer but look at how much fun they are having!! Stop and explain things to them. Let them try new things. But above all just be truly present in the moment.

^^this cheeky one is my pride and joy, and inspiration in everything that I do.

Share your beautiful photos of your time spent together over on Instagram using #therunwildproject and inspire other Mums to give 100% to their children too.
